Bahrain

Been here since the 23rd Sept...with NO BLARDIE internet!!! the "net was finally enabled today, hence my first post since the date of my departure from BolehLand.

On the whole, the country here is much better than Dubai or Abu Dhabi...the people here are friendler, more helpful and courteous...

Even the Dalkia Bahrain staffs are better in the sense that they show a common interest to complete the task at hand..not like in another of our Mid East Project. With that said, I am very confident that our people here will not be having a tough time executing what is needed of them.

BAHRAIN....

-Weather is a tad on the hot, warm and burning side
-I would give them a thumbs up
-Basic amenities adequate
-Net service like shit!!
-Satelite TV GREAT!!!! ( even can receive adult channels...just require a bit of receiver hacking....which was done oledi on our unit..kekekekekkeeke )
-Food...expensive
-Tourism..not much to see
-Cars...damn kaukau cun cars...will buy a Ford Mustang GT if I am permanently based here...lucky I am not..
-Superbikes...cheaper than in BolehLand
-Girls....mostly Ninjas but one can get some good glimpse of some Lebanese and Syirian beauties at the local Malls
-Exchange rate against RM is foooooooking horrendous...at RM10 to Bahrain Dinar 1..HVUCK!!!
-Working hours during the Ramadhan is 8.00am to 2.00pm only...imagine that!!

Didn't take any good pictures because I did not bring my DSLR but brought my landfill cam instead. Took soem general pictures and some at the F1 track....which I will post once back in BolehLand.

Well, my best wishes to all that will be posted here with the assurance of my support whenever u guys/gals need it.

Neways, will pen off for now....still got plenty of emails to read and reply ( 237 in all )..

Smart OR Hard??

Many a times I have friends telling me that its better to work smart instead or hard.....

AND

Many a times I have rebutted what they said......

BUT

Sometimes I wonder...could there be any truth in the saying "Better to work Smart instead of working Hard"

I know of a few "guys" that work damn kau smart...they switch on their mobiles at 9.30am and go offline at 6.00pm sharp. They don't give a damn about site emergencies or anything at all for that matter. "Responsibility" is a foreign word to them. Smiling and acting stooopid is like their second nature...but at the end of the year, they are getting the same amount of Bonus, increments, incentives, get to go on company trips like the rest, etc, etc, etc.

There are also a few "guys" that work hard...really hard. The buggers even come to work on Saturdays and Sundays. The word "Public Holidays" is not in their vocabulary. They sacrifice seeing their loved ones, some don't even have a life, some are like sohais, some work because of the money, etc, etc, etc BUT the type that I pity the most are freshies that seems to be getting the short end of the stick and taking the brunt of the shit.

there might be a few factor that contributes to this so called working "condition"...might be because of the Management, the immediate superiors, etc.

BUT

My question remains:

BETTER TO WORK HARD OR WORK SMART? What do you guys think?

Personally, I am seriously contemplating to work SMART and not HARD....

The Lake House

First and foremost let me put in record that I am a Fan of Action, Suspense, Adventure and Sci Fi movies.....but ocassionally a romantic flick will catch my attention....and breath...and...

Caught the show titled "The Lake House" with Keanu Reeves ( Wifey is gaga over this guy, I dunno why ) and Sandra Bullock ( my all time "favouritest" actress..aaarrrgg!! ) some time back. It caught my attention then and it got my attention yesterday when I watched it on HBO ( or StarWorld )....

The reunion of Keanu and Sandra from their Speed days is a freaking gem...they have the chemistry to make the flick click, totally click dude!!!...more so than "Sleepless In Seattle" starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.

TNS...the storyline was superb...superb I tell you..I will try to just give the gist without spoiling the fun for those who are planning to catch the movie..

Its all about..u guessed it...."LOVE"

Alex ( played by Keanu ) is in the year 2004 and Catie/Kate ( played by Sandra ) resides in the year 2006....and a female dog named "Jack" ( keep your eyes and ears open whenever this dog appears in the movie. There you have it, its about a two year apart love affair....makes sense to you? Btw, did any of you notice the movie poster shows a B&W Keanu with Sandra? Can it be an interpretation of a love affair that might involve the "Flux Capacitor" from "Back to the Future" saga...food for thought huh?

I cannot say more or it WILL ruin the fun of watching or believing in miracles....

I must however say again that the freaking storyline is blardie superb!!!!!!

I rate this as my all time favourite and watchable Romantic flick...and by doing that I must admit that at heart, I am a Romantic freak **sob sob**

Chiangmai 2008

Took a break from my monotonic and mundane schedule for a well planned family vacation. This time its to Chiangmai in the Land Of Smiles from 13th to 16th Sept 2008. Bookings for this trip was done well in advance, 6 months to be exact.....accomodations for 2 rooms for the 4 days 3 nights stay at Centara Duangtawan Hotel was done thru my normal travel agent 3 weeks prior to the trip. Transport arrangements were made thru a friend of mine in Chiangmai...1 luxury 8 seater MPV at a cost of RM300 for the whole trip.

I am happy to say that overall it has been a very enjoyable trip for my family....they enjoyed the shopping, the Elephant Show at Mae Sa Valley, visiting the Long Neck Tribe, the food, the atmosphere, etc, etc, etc...

To blog about the whole trip will consume too much e-space, let my pictures ( got a chance to use my new 12-24mm lens....hehehe ) do all the talking...as they say " A Picture is worth A Thousand Words"...

Dying for Something & Dying for Nothing

A giant ship's engine failed. The ship's owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fix the engine.

Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was very young. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, form top to bottom and inside out.

Two of the ship's owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He then carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed!

A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars.

"What?!" the owners exclaimed. "He hardly did anything!"

So they wrote the old man a note saying, "Please send us an itemized bill."

The man sent a bill that read:

Tapping with a hammer. ............. . $ 2.00
Knowing where to tap.......... $ 9,998.00

*Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort in your life makes all the difference.*

And its also like my post title..."Dying for Something is always better than Dying for Nothing"....the same applies to our careers and futures as well

BUT

You Could Have

Ahmad bin Pendatang and his wife were traveling by car from P.P. to J.B. After almost 4 hours on the road, they found that they were too tired to continue and came to the conclusion to stop for a rest.

They managed to locate a nice hotel for their intended plan which was to rest for 4 hours only before getting back on the road. When they check out four hours later, the desk clerk hands them a bill for RM350..

Ahmad explodes and demands to know why the charge is so high. He tells the clerk although it's a nice hotel, the rooms certainly aren't worth RM350. When the clerk tells him RM350 is the standard rate, the man insists on speaking to the Manager. The Manager appears, listens to Ahamd, and then explains that the hotel has an Olympic sized pool and a huge conference center that were available for their use...

But we didn't use them', Ahmad bin Pendatang complains.

Well, they are here, and you could have,' explains the Manager. He goes on to explain they could have taken in one of the shows for which the hotel is famous for. 'The best entertainers from New York , Hollywood and Las Vegas perform here,' the Manager says.

But we didn't go to any of those shows,' Ahamd complains again. 'Well, we have them, and you could have', the Manager replies. No matter what facility the Manager mentions, Ahmad bin Pendatang replies 'But we didn't use it'.

The Manager is unmoved, and eventually Ahmad bin Pendatang gives up and agrees to pay. He writes a cheque and hands it over to the Manager.

The Manager is surprised 'But sir,' he says, 'this cheque is only made out for $100.' 'That's right,' says Ahmad bin Pendatang, 'I charged you $250 for sleeping with my wife.'

'But I didn't!' exclaims the Manager.

'Well,' Ahamd bin Pandatang replied, 'she was here and you could have.'

Kami la Pendatang

Assamualaikum saudara saudari sekalian....

KNNCCB, statement yang di ucapkan oleh si barua tu menimbulkan ingatan saya kepada satu lagu yang digubahkan oleh Allaryarham Tan Sri P. Ramlee ( btw, he was also from Penang )from the movie "Ali Baba Bujang Lapok"...the song goes like this....

"Kami la penyamun di dalam negeri.....
Kami penyamun, di dalam ini negeri....
Kerja merompak, menciluk dan mencuri...
Tidak memilih mati dan kerbau sabi....
Asalkan boleh kami bawak lari....
Kami penyamun....
Penyamun....."

In light of the recent statement made by the "barua", why don't we change the lyrics a bit...maybe change it to like thus:

"Kami la Pendatang di dalam negeri....
Kami Pendatang, di dlam ini negeri....
Kerja merepek, mencaci dan memaki....
Tidak memilih babi atau babi hutan....
Asalkan boleh kami terus bedal....
Kami Pendatang....
Pendatang....."

Suits us "Pendatang" better right? No need to make KNNCCB statements anymore loh...

Btw, why has not the motherfucker being thrown in ISA? Is he protected by some "Godly" hand?

Further elaborations can be found here at Lim Kit Siang's blog ...read and enjoy your Pendatang status my friends...

Hydro Fuel - Hype or Fact?

Much has been said about the petrol price hike and a lot has also been said about the touted Hydro Fuel System which promises a savings of up to 40-50% of ones petrol consumption.

For report and pics read here , On where to install Hydro Fuel read here

Personally. I find this a better solution that NGV in the sense that one does not need to locate "special" petrol stations for a filling....and the long queue. I cannot imagine asking my wife to queue up for 30 minutes just to refill the NGV tank which in turn will only give about 120-140km per tankful ( depending on the way you drive )....KNN, the way I drive I will only get 50kms on the NGV lar.

Was chatting with some buddies of mine who are in the car modofication/racing sector about Hydro Fuel. Hydro Fuel...what is hydro fuel? how does it work?

Hydro Fuel Sysytem is a process that utilizes Hydrogen Gas in water H2O to supplement the usage of petrol. In theory, it is supposed to create a better burning and a more effective combustion process......

IN SHORT : hydrogen+less fule usage+better combustion process = savings and a cleaner enviroment

A typical set up of the Hydro Fuel is such:

The hydrogen is separated from water by way of electrolisis. A Positive ( + ) and Negative ( - ) charged rod ( sourced from the vehicle's battery unit ) is dipped into the water ( H2O ) to separate the hydrogen from the oxygen.

The Hydrogen is then channelled to the carburator/injector by way of piping which has a connection to the vehicle's vacuum pipe thus allowing the mixture of hydrogen and petrol to give everyone the touted savings.

Just for the heck of it, me and my buddies built a crude but workable hydrofuel unit. The "ingredients" used are as below:

- 1 unit of 2 litre airtight plastic bottle which was inserted in the boot compartment and secured properly
- 2 car lenghts of flexible pipings ( the ones used for aquarium air bubbles )
- 1 check valve/ one way valve
- 1 tee joint to be inserted in the vacuum pipe
- 2 car lenghts of electrical wires. This is for the + and - rods.

The test donkey was my buddy's chief mechanic's 1998 Honda Civic. For the record, the bugger was fucking us like hell...kekekeke. He only agreed after my buddy promised to bear all the cost of repair if his engine blew up ( my buddy owns one of the more famous car modification workshops in Sunway area ).

Our only issue was that we did not have a way to regulate the amount of hydrogen into the vacuum intake....the hydrogen produced by the electrolisis was not that much an amount to create a pressure build up in the plastic tank. We were stumped and ended up by saying "to hell with it lar"

We started the donkey and filled her up with a full tank and passed her back to her owner for his daily use.

This is the result ( not verified by SIRIM or any shit establishment ) after about 2 fillings of petrol:

Before the DIY Hydrofuel : 1km = RM0.35, after the DIY thingy = 1km = RM RM 0.33, resulting in a savings of approx 5%.

It is not known if the above results are true because the results were obtained verbally from the Mechanic only. We also did not have proof as to how much his car was running before the installation. Therefore, it is up to you guys/gals to judge for yourselves how good is the Hydrofuel and will it work at all.

For the records, the commercialized Hydro Fuel System is selling for RM1,300 and RM2,300 ( with some Smart Fuel Saver thingy ) respectively.....use Hydro Fule and still require a smart fuel saver thingy? go figure......kekekekekeke

Hybrids - Proton Persona Electric

KNNCCB!!!! thats my opening statement on the escalated fule prices and what-nots in BolehLand...

I for one do not give a flying f*&k on whatever reasons given by the powers that be in regards to the price hike of petrol...WTF, we are a petrol producing nation btw...and we still have to buy petrol at premium prices? On my last trip to the Middle East, I was informed by the loclas that gasoline cost 6 Dirhams for 6 gallons which is after their price increase, before that it was 3 Dirhams for 6 gallons. FYI, 1 Dirhams is equivalent to RM0.98 and lets presume that the gallons that they are talking about is US Gallons ok...that means 1 US Gallon is equivalent to 3.78 Litres.....do the math and go figure!!!!

I sincerely hope that more and more Hybrids will be introduced in BolehLand's market...at least give a chance for us poor sohais to offset the price hike lar...

Some sources say that Proton is making their move into the Electric market with its Persona...aptly donkey tagged as Proton Persona Electric

Another link to the so called Proton Persona news ( if its true ) is here at this link..

I for one, will gladly welcome such a move by Proton....IF

The Persona can really serve its purpose....IF

The build quality and QA is good...IF

The price tag is reasonable...IF

Spares and After Sales Service are up to the mark...IF

The touted Incentives for hybrids under the 2009 Budget is as real as what is announced..KNN:

EXEMPTION OF 100 PERCENT IMPORT DUTY & 50 PERCENT EXCISE DUTY ON NEW HYBRID CBU CARS, WITH ENGINE CAPACITY BELOW TWO 2,000 CC LITRE TO BE GIVEN TO FRANCHISE IMPORTERS. THE EXEMPTION IS FOR TWO YEARS

Lots of IFs

By the way, anyone of you have any idea on when is the launch? Year 2030?

Forest Research Institut Malaysia ( FRIM )

Went to Forest Research Institut Malaysia ( FRIM ) in Ulu Kepong today...after about 10 odd years of no visit..

My goodness, the place has changed a lot....changed for the better no doubt...

Entrance to FRIM cost RM5 per vehicle and RM1 per person which is used for the upkeep of the area. Must admit that the landscaping is superb and amenities are excellent.

Wanted to go for the Jungle Canopy Walk...a 20 meter high x 200m long walkway located in the Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve but heavy rain put a damper on our plans.

Ended up by taking the family to Sungai Kroh Waterfall for some fun in the rain and a picnic lunch.

Below are some photographs that was taken at the Falls....lighting was poor ( lucky I brought my f2.8 along ) and I forgot to bring my tripod ( must remember next time ) resulting in handheld shots under trying conditions..aaaargg!! therefore, please excuse the quality of the photographs..

I have already planned my next trip there for some picnicking and nature photography.

Today

Today marks a very important Milestone in my life in the sense that I've made a strong commitment about my future, about my life and about what I am going to do to improve it.....

I've talked to Wifey about my plans and what I am planning to accomplish within my own set period...thank God that she is 100% supportive of my decision...

She understands that I have had enough...enough of toiling & suffering, enough of standing by the wayside looking at the world going by, enough of everything....

She knows that I have basically given up on the present situation and that I am just going thru the motions....

I am glad that she understands why I would no longer put so much effort in what I do....because its near pointless

She understands why I no longer want to speak my mind, rant and rave about why, how, what and where....

I sincerely hope for my future's sake that things will work out as what I have planned...and fast because I am at near empty in my "motivation" and "drive" tank.....

The required documentation is ready, ready for the final submission......

There are no bad feelings towards anything or anyone nor will there be any animosity.....because life is life, there are ups and downs....hopefully my "up" time is here with my intended arrangement....

"All The Best" is all I can say.....enough is enough and enough is sometimes just too much...

Till then it will be life as usual without the normal bantering or ass"ing" around..wakakakaka

Watching the "Show"

To tell you guys the truth, there has never been a time in my working life that made me "wash my hands" and watch the "show" from the sidelines...except in this particular instance....

It all started with my company securing a Middle East project....for the sake of blogging, we name this project the BB Project lar.

With that said, I must personally thank the person who sent me there....thank the bugger for giving me the chance to have a personal feel for the project, for the people who are involved, for a feel of the culture, for a feel of the owners, etc. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU...I can never ever say enough of THANK YOUs to this guy.

My personal conclusion is this:

1) This project is doomed for failure because of the incompetency of the person(s) in charge ( blardie pariahs ). The two fuckers know nuts about how to handle a project, know nuts about manpower allocation, know nuts about procedures, know nuts about basis of claims, know nuts about basically everything...and they have the freaking balls to request for the sky and moon.

2) The staff allocation for this project is like fuck. In one of my past projects, we had a 30 strong manpower allocation for a RM40 million project and we were working our balls off to meet the deadline. This project has a value of RM155 and the sohais expect to complete the whole thing with a skeletal staff count of 10 at the max....what a bunch of motherfucking sohais.

3) The two personnel that my company designated for this project also know nuts. As much as I would like to mention their names or even pen down their initial, I can't and will not. I know that a lot of the readers of my blog ( colleagues ) know which two sohais that I am talking about.

One nut job is a motormouth...talks non stop like he is Mr. Know-All but in actual fact he know nuts about the implemented System that we have in place. I will castrate myself if this motherfucker can handle this project on his own effort and not take credit for things that people do....his favourite phrase is exactly like the person who leads this project, which is "I DO FOR YOU WAN" but in actual fact its other people who did it....fucking sonofabitch!!!

Nut job number two is a gangly sonofabitch who also know nuts. The sohai works behind a desk the whole fucking day, won't even go to site if there is any problem, never handled a project before in his miserable life, takes credit for things that people do and acts like Mr. Know-All as well. Needless to say that this sonofabitch is also a useless and worthless bitch.

I for one, will accept any bets from anyone with the odds of 100 to 10 that this project WILL be delayed ( minimum of 9 months ) and WILL LOSE money ( as opposed to the RM14 million that they are targeting to make ). Any takers?

The downside of winning my bets is that my company will end up posting a loss for this project which in turn WILL affect our year end bonuses and increments ( not that passed years records are anything to shout about )...

My stand still remains...."Stand aside and watch the SHOW" and to the motherfuckers that are handling this project ( W,M,S & Z ) FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKHEADS, SHOW US HOW TO DIE AND ROT IN HELL!!!!!!

WAAAAAAAAKAKAKAKAKAKAKAKAA...what a bunch of morons

And before I forget, let me put this down in writing as proof and record..."If ever I see the motherfucking pariah named Sathis Kumar in Malaysia, I will make it my personal mission to whack the shit out of him" or my name isn't TJ...who knows..maybe I will whack the two sohais from my company as well just for the fun of it...kekekekekeke

Cameron Highlands, 31st August 2008

Took my family to Cameron Highlands on our Independence Day for a little relaxation.

Started the journey at 8.30am from my house and managed to reach Cameron at 11.00am via the new Simpang Pulai highway. Took the new road on the advice of friends but I personally find that the old road from Tapah suit visitors from KL better in the sense that its nearer. One doesn't have to make such a big u-turn from Simpang Pulai just to reach the highlands...my goodness gracious!!

Must admit that Cameron has changed quite a bit since my last visit here 9 years ago...the farm set ups has improved, hygiene has improved, roads and infrastucture has improved but with improvisation comes the downside of commercialization...hais..

Staying & eating here during the holidays is no joke I tell you...

The price of veges and such has also increased like hell BUT it is still cheaper than what we get in KL...and fresher too...

To my surprise, I found out one is required to pay an entrance fee of a few RMs to some of the farms...its not like free entrance of days bygone.

In short, we bought lotsa corn, lotsa veges, strawberries and some "chung chou" ( good for soup making)...took lotsa pictures...had lunch at KEA farm Restaurant, Starbucks at Ringlet. We made our journey home via the old road ( Tapah way ) and reached home at 8.20pm after dinner at Sri Damansara.

All in all, it has been an enjoyable time for me and my family. I am seriously looking forward to our next family vacation at Chaingmai on the 13th September...till then and thanks for reading.
